The beginning of school has been full of adventures! Our first full week of school was a week of orientation to the media center (which you can view here) and our first book check outs for all the grade levels. While overwhelming for many, I was so glad to see all of our older students and our new 6th graders. In our second week of school, students are finally able to work with the catalog without much help from me or our parapro, Ms. Leonard. The biggest change this year I have noticed is how excited everyone is to share what they are reading with me. It's fantastic! We've been using the hashtag #adubshelfie to share what we're reading online with each other and for those who do not have Instagram/Twitter, they have been asking to have their pictures taken in the media center. Woo hoo! Our to order list is already over two pages and we've order over 60 new books that will be here soon. Look at our statistics!! With under 600 students, I think we are doing pretty well so far. For those wondering how construction has turned out, it will be a work in progress to get our media center updated to the 21st century collaboration center of my dreams. One step at a time! Our school's theme is "Our School Rocks" this year: Our #ADUBshelfie bulletin board I saw this on Pinterest, so of course I had to try it. I wish I could say more students used their devices to look up the book trailers, but sadly, they are too scared to bring their devices to school. (Remind me to change that. :) )
